I was at the Matteson Auto Mall to purchase a Chrysler Town & Country from another dealer in the plaza, I am a Nissan Quest owner and LOVE my Quest so before we signed the Chrysler I decided to Google Hawkinsons Inventory. They had 3 Quests that were in inventory, one which met my wants in a vehicle. The next day before signing the papers for the Chrysler we stopped at Hawkinson to look at the vehicle in inventory. They didn't have it on their lot, the owners wife was driving it. They called to see if it could be brought in for us to look at because they live in close proximity to the dealership, the vehicle was in Indiana and couldn't be brought in. The website said it had 11k miles, the dealer told me that it would have a little more mileage probably 12 or even 13 k miles because she was driving it, which was ok with me. I was guarantees nothing was wrong with the van, shown the carmax and also shown pictures they had in their computer that were not online yet. We began to run the numbers, I have to give them credit for their diligence, we don't have perfect credit by far. We paid Internet listed price for the vehicle as listed with 11k miles. This was on a Friday, we were told to come back Saturday early afternoon and the vehicle would be back, detailed, a multiple point maintenance inspection and a oil change done. We were back Saturday at the time we had agreed upon and were told " oh I'm sorry there's been a problem with the porter connecting with Mr. Hawkinson to get your vehicle it won't be here till Monday. We then still sign the papers Saturday (which was a bad decision on our part, I will admit this) We came back Monday at 1 pm as told and the vehicle was not back from detail yet...it arrived about 20 minutes later. I went out a n proceeded to look over the vehicle, there was a scratch on the back bumper, and a chip in the windshield, also one of the key remotes was left at the home it was at with Mr. Hawkinson(I was told) they said they would mail the key to me, (I live 45 minutes from the dealer) they would fix the back bumper, and that the chip in the windshield happened on the way bringing it back to the dealer and they would get that fixed as well. That the glass company would contact me mid week to come to my home and fix it. I then started installing my 3 car seats, when it dawned on me to look at the mileage, so to my shock when I looked it had almost 17 k miles! I mentioned this to my salesman Viente and he said "yeah, I saw that too." baffled I just continued on and was excited to leave with my new van. I spoke with Jim Youngblood on several occasions and also Viente Ivy to get the extra key( which never got mailed to me), and also to get the guy to come out about the windshield . When the windshield guy finally called about a week and a half later he came to my home, immediately saw my van, recognized it and said " I've already fixed this windshield for Mr. Hawkinson, the way it is is what it is" . He was upset he waisted his time and gas to come to me for something he already did. Then as I thought about it the mileage issue really bothered me because we paid the price for a van with 11, 12, maybe even 13k miles, not sticker price for a van with almost 17k miles. So I called Jim Youngblood and expressed my feelings, he agreed I had a point, I also noticed all of our paperwork (because it was signed prior to the van being actually back, I know BAD decision) had the 11k mileage amount on it. Everything INCLUDING our extra warranty papers....so Jim said to compensate for the price difference the van should have had for the mileage and the error on the warranty papers mileage he would just extend my warranty to a flat 120k 0 deductible warranty to compensate the difference. At that point I said "you know what I would like? I would like you to give me the correct mileage I'm entitled to meaning the warranty until 116, xxx, being the 100k warranty we were understanding we were getting and the 0 deductible and the e tra compensation he was going to give me be given in the form of them paying to put remote start on my van for me." Jim then said "done" I scheduled the time to get the back bumper repaired, the remote start installed and the alignment done that the van needed because the steering wheel was not straight for the following week because it had to be done on a Wednesday per Jim . I brought the van in the following week, which this was always a challenge because I have 4 children and all of their loaner vehicles do not accommodate 3 car seats and a extra child, myself and my husband, so after trying to fit 3 seats in their loaner I finally told them to just give me my old van back off their lot to drive so my kids could fit properly, and I knew it was a safe vehicle, after a phone call and a few minutes I was installing my 3 cars seats YET again in my old van. They had my van until Friday at which the alignment machine broke and they could not get my alignment done until the machine was fixed probably on Monday, what did I want to do? I told them I would come get my van and we would do the alignment at a later date, which Jim said was fine. When I got there to get my van I walked around to look at my repaired bumper and was very happy with it. Then I continued around my van and noticed a dent in my passenger side door, along with grease handprint marks on my steering wheel, and circle dirt marks on my leather drivers seat. there were no protective paper mats in my van. This along with the damage upset me greatly, so I went back in to get Jim Youngblood and show him. He came out and was very sorry said it was unacceptable, checked with the service adjuster that took my vehicle in to confirm there was no damage on my van when I dropped it off and said they, of course would fix it. So this meant bringing it back AGAIN , which mind you I live 45 minutes away. So again we scheduled it for the following Wednesday because he said they would have to send it to one of the body's hops they deal with because where the damage was the dent people couldn't fix it. The guy came out and wiped the steering wheel and my seat and then I left. I had a problem with something later that week so I stopped T our local dealership to ask their service department a question and at that time my warranty information was still not in the computer, they said the van didn't show sold to us yet so I couldn't verify the warranty coverage yet. They said this takes 30 to 45 days to get in the computer. I then took my van in the following week to get the repairs done to the dent and the repairs to the alignment? I picked the van up and noticed the alignment was still off. I called Jim the next day and told him about the alignment that they told me was fixed and that my van "went streight as a arrow", along with mentioning my entire van felt like sandpaper because of the overspray that was all over my vehicle, including the windows and that where they had wiped the circles in my seat there were tiny little slice marks in the circle pattern from whatever made the dirt marks on my seat the week prior. I also was having a issue with my tire loosing air every other day, so I mentioned this but also said I would take it to Discount tire to just get it looked at and possibly plugged for free. Jim said ok..bring it in the following week on Wednesday and we would address everything again. I took the van to Discount that week and they told me there was already a plug in that tire and it was done very poorly and it was not fixable, that I needed a new tire to fix the problem, and that another one of my tires had a slice in it that the belts were not showing but it wasn't too safe either. I then called Jim and told him this also. He told me we would look at it when I brought it the following week. Now I understand that we nor the dealership didn't get to fully inspect the vehicle due to the circumstances of our purchase, but they did say that a multiple point inspection was done they day I picked it up for delivery. I. Consider us both at fault for this. The following week I called Jim to verify we were going to be bringing the van in the next day ( this was a Tuesday, we were brining the van in on Wednesday ) Jim said that that week wouldn't work and could I bring it the following Wednesday . I said that was fine, Jim assured me he would be there to handle this. The following WednesdayI kept my son home from his prek program because i was going to hang out in Matteson while they did all the things on my van, Jim told me it would just be a couple hours and they would be done. I went over to pick up my girlfriend to keep us company while I waited. While waiting for her to come out I decided to call just to be sure and what to my surprise I was told that Jim Youngblood no longer worked there.....! I was given to Randy the new car sales manager and he told me he knew nothing about this, and it wouldn't be happening that day and that it wasn't something they could even do in one day while I waited. That I would have to bring it in the following Wednesday and he would have a pathfinder rental for me( to accommodate my seats) and he would take care of everything on my list. Frustrating as it was I waited again, until the next Wednesday. I took my van in on Tuesday night for the service on Wednesday. I was called several times and advised of the progress by Randy through the next days. After being told they were going to fix the plugs in my tires, they then decided to put 2 new tires on it, which I was very happy, they also cleaned the overspray from the van body but did not do the windows, I brought this to their attention and they also handled that. Then randy called on Friday and told me I could come get my van, it was finished and that the alignment went "straight as a arrow" AGAIN! I said I didn't get off work until 8 and would be there right before 9 to get the van. Randy said that was fine, he wouldn't be there but Pete would be and he would get me my van. I got there right at 9, I had called on the way so Pete knew I was for sure still coming, I signed my papers, checked the overspray, checked for the new tires( which they put both new tires on the passenger side only, not 2 new ones on the front) and looked at the seat. I left the lot with my van...made it onto route 30 and noticed the steering wheel was NO better, I turned around and went back. I told Pete of the problem, asked him to go for a ride with me to verify, because this was a big issue Randy had was why did I never come back the previous times that the vans alignment wasn't correct, why did i call the next day, so this time I came back. Pete asked if he could drive it, I said yes, and off we went onto the side road in front of the auto mall, of which he went barley past the dealerships and saw immediately what I was saying and turned around and went back. He said he couldn't believe Randy wouldnt drive it themselves to verify, and just called to tell me it was done. He asked what I wanted to do, he said I could take the pathfinder back and leave my van..but I expressed concern because when I was givin the pathfinder I was told it was a demo, and I couldn't go over 300 miles with it due to the fact that demos can't go over 7000 miles and it had 6700 on it. They then had said that 7100 miles was absolute worst I could go to. My concern is that I would be putting 45 miles one way on it just going home. But having brought it back I stayed under the 7100 miles as asked and if I took it again I'd go over. Pete to.d me not to worry they had 7500 miles and it would be fine for their mistake. He also looked then and couldn't believe they put both new tires on the passenger side and not on the fronts. He figured this was also contributing to the problem. So I left my van AGAIN, and I was told it probably wouldn't be done until Monday because they have oil change guys on Saturdays, and only 1 technician that maybe wouldn't get to my van Saturday. I did ask Pete to have them please vacuum my van for all of my hassle this time. He said " of course, no problem". They did get my van ready Saturday but I could not make it to pick it up until Monday due to my work and kids sports schedules Saturday. I picked it up Monday and left with the understanding that I was done and cutting ties with them because I have a Nissan dealer closer to me for my service needs. I started thinking that because I picked my van up at 9 pm I never popped in service to check on my warranty conditions, so I called to check on them on tuesday( the next day) I just wanted to make sure everthing was handled like Jim said it would have been weeks prior. This is when I found out nothing was changed and all of the mileage was still incorrect. I spoke to Randy that time, he asked me why I never brougHt this up and I said " I truly just thought I was a done subject" it was just me being over analyzing that even made me check again, and to my surprise find out this wasnt done. He told me they were done and that him no longer worked there and they weren't going to correct it, I had nothing in writing, because all our conversations were via phone and I couldn't see what Jim was doing and just TRUSTED he was handling it. Randy then began to get irritated and tell me over again they were done. What it was was it and that Jim didn't work there anymore and that was it. I asked him to call Jim and he refused. We hung up our call. 10 minutes later randy called me back and said he spoke with Mr. Hawkinson and they were done, there was nothing more they would do on my van. I asked to speak to Mr. Hawkinson and Randy said he had just gone outside, he wasn't available. I asked to leave him a voicemail, because obviously he was there in the building, so he would call me back. I got no return call. This is extremely frustrating, I've always said such positive things about them even with how many issues and things that have happened on both of our parts, I've been patient but this isn't fair. After that night went by I called Randy the next day to ask him if I could BUY the extra coverage then and change out deductable to 0 like Jim and I had agreed upon, because I don't have the $100 to pay every service visit. I never get a deductible, I always do 0 deductible. I asked him if I could cancel a oil change/tire rotation warranty we have also taken out to pay the difference to the other warranty they wouldn't give me as Jim said they would. Randy said "yeah they may be able to do that, he didn't think of that" that he would find out the price difference and call me back shortly. I never heard from him so I called him on my way to work, around 4 pm, he said he hadn't gotten to check they were really busy but he would call me back by then end of the day. I never heard from him. I called the next day,they said he didn't come in until 1, I left him a voicemail. I heard nothing back. I called the next day, he was off I left voicemail....I waited 2 days...heard nothing. I called then 3rd day, he came in at 1 I left voicemail, I heard nothing I called on my way to work at 4 pm..left voicemail, he called me at about 5:30 that day and said the deal was too old, there was nothing they could do. I don't believe this. When I spoke to my local Nissan dealer they told me I could do this but it just had to be done through the dealership I bought the van at. Jim Youngblood and I had even spoke at one point about canceling the tire/oil warranty at which he said I could, but the only benefit would be they would mail the premium paid to the loan to pay towards the principal so we decided not to cancel it. I love my van, ultimately I'm happy I have it, and as people Hawkinson has very nice people but due to this circumstance I am so incredibly upset, they have fixed many many things, buti in turn have also been flexible, heck they damaged my vehicle, it now has repair work on the sliding door, this depreciates my value, I'm not trying to be ruthless the whole circumstance is obviously unique, but one thing that burns me is that I have come to find out that when Jim spoke to me the very last time to set the appointment the following Wednesday, he KNEW he would no longer be working there then! He made the appointment knowing that! He never told me that! I have tried to. Intact Jim also, but have gotten no return response from him either. Like I said truly nice people, just unfair business correspondence. I don't have access to their computer notes, how do I know if he put the correct notes in the computer... I DON'T!
